On April 06, 2015, Minister Dinh La Thang chaired a meeting on the current status of BOT projects to be invested.
Deputy Ministers Nguyen Hong Truong, Nguyen Ngoc Dong, Nguyen Van Cong, Le Dinh Tho, Nguyen Van The and heads of relevant parties attended the meeting.
Mr. Nguyen Danh Huy, General Director – Head of Public – Private partnership (PPP) Department reported that there are currently 50 BOT projects, 37 of which are road projects, 6 of which are inland waterway projects, 3 of which are railway ones and one remaining is marine projects. Total investment cost is around 160,000 billion dong. Eight projects are expected to commence in Quarter II/2015 with total investment cost of 22,000 billion dong.
Regarding specific projects, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Dong said Dau Giay – Phan Thiet Expressway project is being reported to Prime Minister.
To attract more investment in the National Highway No1, Deputy Minister proposed to supplement Phan Thiet – Nha Trang section; divide Bien Hoa – Vung Tau into two sections, in which Bien Hoa – Phu Mai be implemented in BOT form, not from the state budget.
Responsible for many BOT in southern region, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van The, said 11 projects are currently being implemented. He also said that the Department would continue to study fifteen more projects, of which ten projects are feasible and could start this year; five remaining projects will be soon implemeneted in the near future.
